Breaking The Grass Ceiling
Women, Weed and Business
Breaking the Grass Ceiling; Women, Weed and Business is a biographical collection featuring powerful, driven, and courageous women who have been instrumental in paving the way into the cannabis industry for many - especially other women. This episode of The High Friends Podcast features an interview with authors Lauren Devine and Ashley Picillo. They talk about their inspiration, goals and the life long friendship that led to their collaboration.
Ashley began working in the cannabis industry in 2014 when she co-developed two large scale cannabis events: CannaSearch, the largest cannabis career fair of all time, and The Marijuana for Medical Professionals Conference, a medical conference intended to educate healthcare professionals about cannabis efficacy and research. She went on to lead the Marketin, Retail and Operations teams for MiNDFUL. In December of 2015 Ashley founded Point Seven Group, a business solutions firm that works with operational and pre-license cannabis companies and teams across the US.
Lauren is a Massachusetts native, but, during her time as a professional actor, has travelled, worked and lived in places all over the world including New York City, Shanghai and Toronto. She holds a BA in Musical Theatre from Syracuse University, where she graduated magna cum laude with Reneé Crown Honors. For Lauren, the subject matter “Women, Weed & Business” was a thrilling combination of art, academia and female empowerment. The stories of these women so inspired Laure and her partner Rollie that the two have moved to Colorado to dive headfirst into the cannabis industry.
